Homes at Diggersfield
Green and connected
The Place
On the outskirts of the beautiful town of Langport, surrounded by the historic Somerset levels, and edged by trees and an orchard, Diggersfield is an idyllic site.
Each house is set in a private garden, with its own green-roofed carport nearby. The access road is shared, and links to the central green.
The site plan is designed to respond to the surrounding landscape, and follow the site contours, with homes oriented for solar gain. The layout is based on a ‘pocket neighbourhood’ plan, to offer both community and privacy. Each house is sited carefully to ensure it relates and beds in to the surrounding landscape and neighbours. With planting of deciduous native trees, and an avenue of mature beech trees to the south, this is a haven of peaceful, but connected living.
The Architecture
Diggersfield’s eight bespoke homes are designed and built to an unusually high standard — one rarely found in mainstream UK housing.
Holistic architecture creates buildings that are low-impact on the environment, and made to support a human-centred lifestyle. Houses are carefully sited, and constructed to ensure zerocarbon in build and usage. Internally, considered circulation and seamless detailing ensure flow and function.
Our natural material specifications ensure a healthy, comfortable indoor environment. Our design philosophy is fabric first, and form follows function - we aim for a rigorous simplicity that gives a contemporary aesthetic.
The base design can be adapted, giving flexibility for different families, budgets and lifestyles, allowing each home to adapt gracefully as needs and households evolve.
A simple, flexible home
All homes at Diggersfield are based on a shared design:
a generous single-storey ground floor, with a light-filled attic room and mezzanine above.
Houses 1,2, and 3 have verandahs to the front, shading and providing shelter to the front door.
Houses 4,5, 6, 7, an 8 have verandahs to the rear, opening onto the garden.
Each house can be configured to make the house two, three, or four bedrooms, to suit your household and lifestyle.

Ground Floor Master Suite
This ground floor plan is arranged around a generous living space, with a master bedroom and ensuite.
The main room — kitchen, dining, and sitting — is given extra breadth. Light enters from more than one direction and the covered verandah becomes a natural extension of the room, blurring the edge between inside and out.
The result is a house that feels measured and well-made: compact in plan, but open, flexible and assured in use.
-

Two Ground Floor Bedrooms
This plan has a main bedroom and a second bedroom downstairs. The stair and shower room are accessed from the hallway, leading to the attic level.
At the centre of the house, the living space brings together kitchen, dining and sitting areas in a single, generous room.
Careful proportions, good daylight, and efficient circulation give the house a sense of openness and adaptability,
Attic Plan
The Attic offers one room and a mezzanine. It can be adapted to offer two upstairs bedrooms, with or without an additional w.c.
The mezzanine, open to the double height living space, works well as storage, workspace, or small sitting area.
